Garrett Cummings

Garrett Cummings

Garrett Cummings, Class of 2002, was a three sport athlete, participating in soccer, wrestling, and track & field. Garrett was a two time sectional and district champion and once a regional champion in wrestling. He also was a three time PIAA state qualifier in wrestling and medaled 7th. He received the Bob Rohm Memorial Award and made the All Anthracite Wrestling Team in 2002. In track & field, Garrett was a member of the 2002 district championship team. After graduating from Central Columbia High School, he attended North Carolina State and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle School Math and Science Education in 2007. Garrett finished as a Magna Cum Laude Graduate. He also balanced his time with wrestling and was a 3 year captain, 4 year scholar athlete, 3 time 3rd place ACC medalist, 3 year member of the All ACC Academic Wrestling Team, and was voted team MVP in 2004 at North Carolina State. He is currently a teacher and wrestling coach at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, NC. Garrett and his wife Jessica reside in Raleigh, NC.

Taylor Cummings

Taylor Cummings

Taylor Cummings, Class of 2005, was a three sport athlete, participating in soccer, wrestling, and track & field. In wrestling, Taylor made the Press Enterprise All- Decade Team (112 lbs.), and the All- Anthracite Team twice, he received the Bob Rohm Award in 2005 and was team captain in 2004 and 2005. In wrestling, Taylor was a two time sectional and district champion in 2003 and 2005. He was also the regional champion in 2005. Taylor qualified for the state tournament 3 times and placed 4th in 2004 and 5th in 2005. Taylor was also a two time champion of the Bob Rohm tournament. He finished his high school career with a record of 30-3 his senior year and an overall record of 121-30 in his four years at Central Columbia. Taylor still holds the school record for technical falls. After graduating from Central Columbia High School, Taylor was the 2007 ACC Champion and National Qualifier at North Carolina State for Wrestling. He was also named the 2012 Conference (Tri-9) Coach of the Year.

Carol Davis

Carol Davis

Carol Davis, Class of 1987, was a two sport athlete, participating in cross country and track & field. In cross country, Carol was on the 1986 District Championship Team. In Track & Field, she was the 1600 meter run district champ in 1986 and the 1600m and 3200 meter run champion in 1987. In 1986, Carol placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run and 5th in the 1600 meter run at states. At states in 1987, she placed 6th in the 3200m and 1600 meter run. She still holds the school record for the 1600m run at a time of 5:09 and the 3200m at a time of 11:32. After graduating from Central Columbia High School, she attended Penn State and received a bachelor's science in Elementary Education. She then attended the University of Colorado and received a master's degree in Kinesiology. She is currently the president of Fit School and is married to Paul Frazey. They have two children, Maria and Mark.

Carol Rakich

Carol Rakich

Carol Rakich, Class of 1987, was a three sport athlete, playing field hockey, basketball, and softball. Carol was a member of the 1985 Columbia County League and District IV Championship Field Hockey Team. In field hockey, she earned a selection to the Columbia County League All Star Team in 1984, 85, and 86. She also was named Press Enterprise Athlete of the Week in 1985. In basketball, Carol was on the Columbia County League All Star Team in 1987 and the West Snyder All-Tournament Team. Carol was a part of the 1984, 85, and 86 District IV Championship Softball Team and the Columbia County League Championship team in 1986. Individually in softball, Carol made the State College All-Tournament Team and the Columbia County League All Star Team in 1985, 86, and 87. In 1987, she was named Central Columbia's Female Athlete of the Year. After graduating from Central Columbia High School, she attended East Stroudsburg University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitative Services and was a member of the women's field hockey and softball teams for four years and basketball and lacrosse teams each for a year. In field hockey, she was named All PSAC (1st team) in 1989 and 1990 and All American in 1990. In 1990, she was named All Academic American and received the coach's award. Currently, Carol works for DEC in Norristown, PA for the past 17 years, providing services to adults with intellectual disabilities, as the Quality Enhancement Director.

1985 Field Hockey Team

1985 Field Hockey Team

The field hockey team won a Columbia County League Championship and District IV Championship in 1985. They were coached by current field hockey coach, Bridget Mathias. Coach Mathias was assisted by Karin Michael. The field hockey team captured Central Columbia's first field hockey championship in 1985. This team had numerous multiple sport athletes and outstanding individual talent.
