Inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2021

Hervey Gillespie

Hervey Gillespie graduated from Central Columbia in 1969, he participated in Boys Tennis for two years while earning numerous varsity letters in this sport.  Hervey was Central Columbia's first District IV Tennis Champion as well as Central Columbia's first ever State Tennis qualifier.  In 1968, Hervey was the District IV Runner-Up and in 1969, he captured the District IV Individual Tennis Championship.  Also, in both 1968 and 1969, Hervey competed in the state championship tournament where he finished in sixth place both years.  He completed his tennis career at Central Columbia with an undefeated regular season match record.  Hervey was awarded the Administration Award for his determination and dedication to a new sport at Central Columbia.  Hervey has been a private business owner for 45 years in the Bloomsburg are and has assisted with promoting athletics at Central Columbia.

Richard Brandt

Richard Brandt is a 1974 graduate of Central Columbia where he was an outstanding two-sport athlete.  Richard excelled in cross country as well as track & field.  He earned numerous varsity leters in four years of athletics here at Central Columbia.  during his athletic career he was a four-year starter in both of his sports.  In 1973, Richard earned the District IV Cross Country Chanmpionship while in 1974 he competed in the PIAA State Cross Country meet capturing a third-place finish.  His best mile time was 4:32 and besthalf mile time was 2:14.  Richard was a dominant cross country and distance runner during his high school career.  He was an inspiring athlete to his teammates as well as younger individuals.  He completed his senior year undefeated in the mile in track & field until his state final race where he finished in third place.

Todd Cummings - Coach Induction

Todd Cummings, a 2019 retiree of the Central Columbia School District, coached Wrestling for 30 years at Central Columbia.  Todd was a wrestling team captain at Bloomsburg University where he captured an Eastern Wrestling League Championship, he was a two-time NCAA Division I qualifier, he recorded 95 career wins and was inducted in Bloomsburg University's Athletic Hall of Fame.  Todd was employed as a special education instructor for 36 years at Central Columbia Middle School and also worked as an assistant wrestling coach at Central Columbia and then become the head coach at Central Columbia.  While coaching Toss was able to generate a winning attitude within the wrestling program.  This attitude grew and the success of the program grew as well.  Under Todd Cummings many wrestlers became successful not only at the high school level but also at the post-secondary level as well.  Through his coaching career Todd produced at 331-269 dual meet record with the nine league championships, five sectional championships, two district championships, two state championships, 24 individual district c hampions, 20 individual regional c hampions, and 26 PIAA state medalists.  Todd was unducted into the District IV Wrestling Hall of Fame honoring his dedication to the sport.

Donald Scatena

Donald Scatena graduated in 2011 and was a varsity letter winner in boys Cross Country and Boys Track and Field for four years where he excelled in the distance and vaulting events.  In 2011, Donald was the PIAA District IV double "AA" pole vault champion as well as the PIAA double "AA" State Track and Field Runner-Up competing in the pole vault.  Donald vaulted 15' 1" to capture the second-place finish at the state championship.  He is the most accomplished pole vaulter in Central Columbia Boys Track and Field history.  Donald was a multiple student/athlete award winner as well as an Academic Honors student.  Donald also in 2011 ias awarded the Coaches' Award for his determination to accomplish his goals as well as strived to assist his fellow teammates in reaching their goals.  Donald attended Lehigh University where he earned a degree in Sociology and Anthropology.  Donald is currently on the Central Columbia Track & Field Coaching Staff specializing on the pole vault.

2014 Girls Track & Field Team

The 2014 Girls Track & Field Team captured the PHAC Championship as well as the District IV double A championship.  This team completed the dual meet season with a 7-0 record with many outstanding performances throughout the season.  Members of this team were ellen Shepard, Madeline Padner, Graycie Juckes, Karissa Flick, Courtney Claudfelter, Lindsey Carl, Bailey Gemberling, Brianna Gliem, Madeline Murtin, Madison Heintzelman, Colleen Kitchen, Rachel Leiby, Katie Madden, Lauren Moss, Megal Sokol, Megan Sumner, Bethany Brown, Megan Readler, Willow Perkins, Brianna Kramer, Mia Kitchen, Daniela Rinnerbauer, Ally Yerkes, Corina Slusser, Lauren Willie, Harleigh Welsh, Zuzana Pribulova, Sarah Parko, Emma Padner, Caitlin Lowe, Sarah Musselman, Madison Berkey, Sarah Busch, Olivia Campbell, Mackenzie Carey, Lyndsey Echenrode, Anna Jaskiewicz, Taylor Knorr, Hannah Klingerman, Morgan Karas, Sydney Haedrich, Payton Gregory, Heather Franklin, Danielle Crawford, Sara Ciccone, Grace Brosius, and Erika Thomas.  The 2014 Girls Track & Field Team was coached by Head Coach Fred Lenig and his assistants wee Doug Brown, Nate Johnson, Ben McConnell, Jason Bartholomew, Jason Hippenstiel, James Murtin and Tony Abraczinskas.  This team ended their season with an outstanding District IV meet qualifying many athletes to the PIAA State Track & Field Championship.  This team was comprised of many multiple sport athletes that excelled at each sport they participated in here at Central Columbia.
