Adam Satteson

Adam Satteson

Adam Satteson graduated from Central Columbia in 2004, he participated in boys’ basketball and baseball each of these sports for four years while attending Central Columbia. Adam earned numerous varsity letters in these sports. Adam is one of several Central Columbia boys’ basketball players that has scored 1,000 points or more. Adam completed his basketball career with 1,084 points. During his basketball career, Adam was a Central Susquehanna Conference first team all-star selection and was also selected the Central Susquehanna Conference Player of the Year following his 2003-2004 season. Adam was a critical aspect to the boys’ basketball team capturing the Central Susquehanna Conference Championship in 2003. Following high school, Adam attended Susquehanna University earning his bachelor’s degree. In 2012, Adam earned a degree from Georgetown University’ School of Medicine. In 2017, he completed his ENT residency work at Wake Forest University. Currently, Adam provides ENT surgical care for veterans in the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Hospital. He also instructs and mentors residency students from the University of Florida. Adam lives in Gainesville, FL with his wife Ellen and their three children Owen, Wesley, and Leo.

Derek Confer

Derek Confer - Derek Confer-Blue Jay Spirit Award

The Central Columbia Athletic Hall of Fame Committee established the Blue Jay Spirit Award in 2022 to recognize an individual who has supported the athletic programs at Central Columbia. This year’s recipient of the first annual Blue Jay Spirit Award is a 2005 graduate of Central Columbia. Derek Confer has been following Central Columbia athletics for 24 years. Derek supports Blue Jay Athletics with an outstanding spirit just as the award intended. Derek’s first love though is that of Blue Jay Baseball. He has found a home in the baseball dugout since 2001. From 2007 through 2019, Derek created programs for the baseball team and would support the program by developing funds from sponsorships contributing to the distribution of the program including stats and photos. Derek cheers on all teams and is a valued member of each of the athletic programs. Big D can teach us all of what it means to preserve when life gets difficult. He has taught young people over the years what it is like to deal with adversity and to never give up. In 2001 and 2002, Derek was awarded the number one fan and medals from the Central Columbia Wrestling Teams. Also, in 2002 the number one soccer fan award was presented to Derek for his outstanding spirit and support for both the girls’ and boys’ programs. In 2003, he was awarded the senior athletic award for being the “number one” fan. In 2006/2007, Derek was presented the gold medal for the District IV Baseball Championship. In 2016/2017 and 2018/2019 he was awarded the silver medal for the Baseball Team’s second place District IV finish. Lastly, Derek was awarded in 2021-2022 the District IV Baseball Team gold medal. Derek worked at Bloomsburg SUNCOM Industries for 11 years. Derek resides in Stillwater, PA with his mother Jody Confer.

Howard Hippensteel

Howard Hippensteel - Blue Jay Legacy

Howard Hippensteel was a 1942 graduate of Central Columbia. Howard participated in soccer for three years, basketball for two years, and baseball for two years. Howard also left his mark in education as well as the athletic program during his years in high school. Howard was a member of the soccer team that generated a 23-1-4 record over his three-year career. In 1940, he was part of the North Branch League Championship Team that also finished second in the Central Pennsylvania Conference playoffs. During his basketball career, he was part of the first organized basketball team at Central Columbia in 1940. He finished his basketball career with a combined two-year team record of 30 wins against 9 losses. Finally, in baseball Howard was part of a program that over a two-year span generated a 21-5 record capturing the North Branch League Title. Howard earned numerous varsity letters and was captain of each of his teams during his athletic career. Howard graduated from Gettysburg College with a Biology Degree leading him to a lifetime career as a dentist.

William Pague

William Pague - Blue Jay Legacy

William Pague was a 1946 graduate of the Central Columbia School District. William participated in soccer, basketball, and baseball for four years in each sport. William was a quiet leader that left his mark in education as well as athletics as a student at Central Columbia.

Ross Hughes

Ross Hughes - Blue Jay Legacy

Ross Hughes was a 1946 graduate of the Central Columbia School District. Ross competed in the following sports while attending Central Columbia soccer, basketball, and baseball for four years in each sport. Ross was a great athlete and better yet a great teammate where his generation started the pride of the Blue Jays and paved the way for hundreds of Central Columbia athletes. He earned a degree in business from Muhlenberg College.

Jeremy Nolt

Jeremy Nolt

Jeremy Nolt is a 2008 graduate of Central Columbia where he was an outstanding four-sport athlete. Jeremy excelled in golf for two years, soccer for two years, basketball for three years, and finally boys’ tennis for four years. He earned 12 varsity letters in four years of athletics here at Central Columbia. During his athletic career he was a four-year starter in tennis. In 2005, Jeremy was an essential piece to the Central Susquehanna Conference and District IV Championships in boys’ tennis. In 2006, he played an important role in the Central Susquehanna Conference Championship in boys’ basketball, and lastly in 2008 the boys’ golf team captured the Central Susquehanna Conference Championship. Individually, Jeremy earned the PIAA Outstanding Male Athlete in 2008. His tennis career was outstanding where he captured the 2008 District IV Tennis Championship, in 2007 he was the District IV Runner-Up and the was a two- time state tennis qualifier. In basketball, Jeremy earned the Central Susquehanna Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 and in 2008. In 2014, Jeremy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wilkes University earning his pharmacy degree. At Wilkes University, he played three years on the men’s Tennis Team and one year on the men’s Golf Team. From 2014-2021 he worked at Giant Food Stores as a Pharmacy Manager. Currently, Jeremy works for Global Medical Information Scientist with Merck. Jeremy resides in Bethlehem, PA with his wife Lindsey Bieryla-Nolt a former Central Columbia graduate and their children Andrew and Clara.

Virginia LaMacchia

Virginia Lamacchia

Virginia Lamacchia graduated in 2012 and was a varsity letter winner in Field Hockey and Track & Field during her four-year athletic career at Central Columbia. Virginia earned eight varsity letters while excelling in her two sports. Virginia captured seven medals at PIAA state competitions during her high school career. She secured the Central Columbia School Record in pole vault with a vault of 12 feet and currently is still the school record holder in this event. She was a 2011 and 2012 PTFCA Indoor All-State Team selection. She was also a four-time All-PHAC first-team selection. In 2012, Virginia was a Window Nation High School Indoor Track & Field All-American. She was a President's Award for Educational Excellence recipient, a National Honor Society Member who graduated with Honors. She was a two-time All-Big East All-Star selection for athletics and academics. Virginia ranks fourth in school history at Villanova in the pole vault. Virginia attended Villanova University where she earned a degree in Chemical Engineering and is currently a senior automation engineer for a biotechnology company located in Switzerland.

Jake Klinger

Jake Klinger

Jake Klinger graduated in 2014 and was a varsity letter winner in football for four years, wrestling for one year, and baseball for four years. In 2012, Jake was an essential part of the Pennsylvania Heartland Conference (PHAC) Championship in football. While participating in football, Jake was an accomplished lineman. In 2011 & 2012, he was named a second team PHAC offensive and defensive lineman. He was also named honorable mention by PIAA as an All-State defensive lineman. In 2012 & 2013, Jake earned first-team All-Star selection from the Daily Item and Press Enterprise as an offensive and defensive lineman. Also, in 2013 Jake was selected as the Press Enterprise’s Defensive Lineman of the Year. The PHAC recognized Jake as a first team All-Star selection as a defensive and offensive lineman in 2013. The PIAA also recognized him as an All-Star naming him to the second team all-state team as a defensive lineman. Jake was named the Robert Rohm player of the game four times, defensive player of the game seven times, and offensive player of the game once. In 2013, he was named a team captain and was selected as the team’s MVP. In his one year of wrestling, Jake recorded the most pins in the 2014 season. In baseball, he was team captain in 2014 and was selected as a PHAC second team All-Star infield selection. Jake earned his bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University in Environmental, Geographical and Geological Sciences. While attending Bloomsburg University, Jake competed for the Huskies on the football field where he holds the record for most tackles for loss in a single season at 22. In 2017 he was named first team All-PSAC, All-Region, and All-American. In 2018, he was named All-PSAC first team defensive lineman and was selected as a National Bowl All-Star Game participate. Finally, in 2019 Jake was an NFL Draft Participant. In 2021, Jake graduated from the Ross Leffler School of Conservation and currently serves the public as a Pennsylvania State Game Warden with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He resides in Ringtown, PA with his wife Janette.

Lewis Williams

Lewis Williams

Lewis Williams graduated in 2015 and was a four-year varsity letter winner in Football and Wrestling and a two-year varsity letter winner in baseball. Lewis excelled in each of his sports. In 2012, Lewis was part of the football team that captured the PHAC Championship. In the 2012 and 2013 wrestling seasons, Lewis helped the team capture the PHAC team championships, the District IV and Sectional Team Championships, numerous tournament championships and lastly aided in the team in being a PIAA state team qualifier. In football, Lewis was named the WHLM Player of the Game, he was Central Columbia’s offensive MVP, he was named three times as a PHAC first team All-Star wide receiver and lastly participated in the 2015 District IV All-Star game. Lewis was named the Robert Rohm player of the game seven times. In wrestling, Lewis holds the record for the most victories with 140, with him reaching 100 wins by his junior year and his overall career record was 140 wins and 32 losses. He was a two-time PIAA state tournament place winner, sectional champion, two-time District IV champion, regional champion, District IV wrestler of the week, undefeated for four years at the Robert Rohm Tournament, named the Dandy Duals outstanding wrestler and named Central Columbia’s outstanding wrestler twice. Lewis wrestled at the Division I level at Lock Haven and Bloomsburg Universities where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration/management from Bloomsburg University in 2019. Currently, Lewis assists in defending our nation while being on active status with the United States Army.

2011/2012 & 2012/2013 Wrestling Teams

The 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 Wrestling Teams captured the 2011 and 2012 PHAC Championships, the 2011 and 2012 Towanda Dandy Duals Tournament Championships, the 2012 Williamsport Top Hat Championship, the 2011 Robert Rohm Tournament Championship, the 2011 DKI Championship, the 2012 and 2013 Sectional Championships, the District IV Team Championship in 2013, and were PIAA state competition team qualifiers in 2012 and 2013. These team members completed the dual meet seasons with a 22-0 record in 2011/12 and 26-3 record in 2012/13 with many outstanding performances throughout the season. Members of this teams were Evan Campbell, Matt Chamberlain, Jacob Coombe, Cameron Farr, Nick Fester, Matt Hackenberg, Chae Hirleman, Crue Hock, Cody Hoover, Aaron Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Trystan Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Eric McCracken, Kurt Meske, Will Meske, Austin Miknich, Chris Rich, Chris Roberts, Mike Roosa, Jesse Shannon, Steven Shannon, Alex Shiber, Demetrius Starr, Cyler Wedge, and Lewis Williams. The 2011/12 and 2012/13 Wrestling Teams were coached by Head Coach Todd Cummings and his assistants were Tom Gibble, Nate Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Christian Oberle, Jim Moroney, Justin Erdman, and Ryan Gibble. The 2011/2012 team ended their season with an outstanding 22-0 dual meet record. This was the first undefeated dual meet record team in school history. This was the first team to represent Central Columbia at the PIAA State Duels Championship. This team complied the most qualifying athletes to the PIAA State Wrestling Championships, the most District IV qualifiers with 11 and most the most regional qualifiers at 6 at that time. The 2012/2013 team ended their overall dual meet competition with a 26-3 record. With the most dual meet victories at 26, and most regional qualifiers with 7. These teams were comprised of many multiple sport athletes that excelled at each sport they participated in here at Central Columbia.
