Course Pathways

A student's coursework should be a Pathway to success. Pathways is a newly designed initiative to bring the workplace into the classroom while striving for relevant education and teaching marketable skills. The system promotes academic excellence while encouraging our students to explore their various career options.

Through our course selection program, we strive to connect curriculum to careers and character education. Curriculum begins with career awareness at the elementary level. In the middle school, students begin to explore careers that interest them and will choose a course pathway before entering high school. The pathway will then serve as a guide to course selection for them to follow until graduation and also provide an outline for completing a required graduation project.

School to career programs transform workplaces into places of learning. Along with the K-12 career development program, Central Columbia School District has created partnerships with local businesses, industry and higher education institutions to offer job shadowing, mentoring, internships, work study, and dual enrollment to students. Linking student coursework to career pathways will afford our students more success in their fields and promote future lifelong learning.
